Inuit Art Consignment and Auction: A Cultural Guide

This major sale also offers a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most sought after prints of the modern era by Inuit artist Kenojuak Ashevak. Based on a pencil drawing now in the National Gallery of Canada, The Enchanted Owl was released as an edition of 50 stonecuts in 1960. Over the years many copies of this print have been lost, damaged or collected by museums and galleries, limiting the number available on the open market. The auction offering includes a beautiful bright red copy of this print, which is a real treat for collectors.

The sale also showcases an exceptional collection of early carved and inked stones by Inuit artist Agnes Nanogak (1925-2001). A highlight of the sale is a complete set of 34 prints, comprising two stencils, 26 stone cuts, three engravings and three etchings, by Parr (1893-1969), one of the most important Inuit printmakers of his time. This print suite, which is the only presentation of this work to be offered at auction, offers a rare glimpse into the traditional Inuit nomadic lifestyle of its time.…

4 Types of Attic Insulation

The attic is often a forgotten space that only gets noticed when there’s an issue, such as a leak or rodent infestation. However, attic insulation is an important part of your home’s insulated envelope and can help reduce energy costs, maintain comfortable temperatures throughout the house, and increase indoor comfort.

There are several types of attic insulation, each with its own pros and cons. To ensure you’re making an educated decision, we’ve outlined 4 of the most popular attic insulation options to help you choose the best type for your needs.

Foam Expert Group: The Trusted Name in Attic Insulation Services

Blown in Insulation is the most common attic insulation option. This attic insulation is made from tiny slivers of glass fibers that were originally derived from sand and recycled materials. Fiberglass batt insulation is a cost-effective choice that can improve your home’s thermal efficiency and reduce energy costs. It also reduces sound and helps prevent air leakage from room to room.

Reflective insulation, also known as radiant barrier, is an attic insulation solution that uses aluminum to reflect the sun’s rays, rather than absorb them. This attic insulation is a good choice in hot climates and can significantly lower cooling costs. However, it’s not effective in colder climates and can become less effective if the reflective surface becomes dusty.

Blown-in cellulose is another attic insulation option that’s blown in using a blowing machine and is typically comprised of recycled paper products, such as cardboard boxes, newspapers, and magazines. This attic insulation has a high R-value and offers excellent thermal resistance, but it can lose its effectiveness over time due to moisture absorption. Professional installation is needed to avoid mold and mildew.

Why Hiring Exterior House Painters Calgary Is a Wise Investment

Keeping your exterior painted can add years to its lifespan. It protects against moisture damage and deterioration of materials, helping your home or commercial property stay in good condition while also elevating its curb appeal. It’s a wise investment, especially in Calgary’s competitive housing market where well-maintained properties attract more buyers.

Hiring professional exterior house painters Calgary is usually more cost-effective than DIY painting projects. These contractors specialize in a variety of application techniques and material selection that provide durable, high-quality results. They will also take the time to prepare surfaces and apply primer, creating a clean surface that will allow paint to adhere to the substrate. This is a vital step that can be the difference between a job that lasts 3-5 years and one that lasts 7-10 years or more.

Give Your Home a Fresh Look with Exterior House Painters in Calgary

Today’s premium exterior paints are made to withstand the elements, with ingredients like UV blockers that prevent fading and deterioration. They may also contain elastomeric compounds that can expand and contract with temperature changes without cracking the surface underneath. These ingredients may increase the initial cost of the paint, but they can save you money in the long run by extending the time between repainting.

Other factors that influence the cost of an exterior paint job include the number of stories and the type of siding. A two-story home will cost more to paint than a single-story home, as the surface area is larger and requires more labor. Additionally, some types of siding are more difficult to work with than others because they can be slippery or have different textures.
